The psycho Serbian seems to have found his way back onto the basketball court.  According to a local Belgrade news source, Kovacevic will play for a basketball club in a regional Serbian league.  Because his own country cannot extradite him, he seems to be living his life as if he wasn’t considered an international fugitive:

“To play basketball while Bryan Steinhauer is lying in a hospital bed is the height of callousness and shows that Mr. Kovacevic clearly doesn’t understand the severity of his actions,” Sen. Charles E. Schumer said in a statement. “He needs to be returned to the United States immediately to fully account for what he has done.”

Binghamton University budget down $2.3 million

From pressconnects.com:

“VESTAL — Binghamton University leaders are trying to find ways to cope with state budget cuts that left the school with a $2.3 million reduction in funding for the 2008-09 academic year.

Those cuts might lead to larger class sizes and vacant positions as officials zero in on ways to tighten the university’s belt.

“We will continue to think creatively about all of our activities and any possible innovations during this time,” BU President Lois DeFleur said in a written statement.”

Well let’s hope they don’t cut the funding for the 500 a capella groups on campus.  Or the Binghamton Review.

“Binghamton Mayor declares June LGBTQ month”

From News10now.com:

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan issued a proclamation declaring June Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Queer Pride Month in Binghamton.

The Rainbow Flag raising ceremony on Friday kicked off a month of events to celebrate and raise awareness of LGBTQ issues.

Ryan is the first Binghamton mayor to raise the Rainbow Flag in honor of LGBTQ Pride month. Ryan said the ceremony is a chance to celebrate contributions of the LGBTQ community and reject prejudice.

Across the street from the flag raising, about 20 people were seen protesting the ceremony. The protestors said they were not there to express hatred, but to speak the truth in love.

“What he’s doing is giving public support to something which is contrary to the dignity of the human person,” said Father Johannes Smith, Mount Saint Francis Hermitage.

“The community asked me to raise the flag. I think it’s symbolic of a very important message that we need tolerance for all people in our society,” said Mayor Ryan.
