U.S. officials have delivered a note to the Serbian government, with demands that Kovacevic, who fled to Serbia after posting $100k bail for felony assault charges, be returned to the U.S. within 10 days.
The note comes after warnings from NY senators Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton who told the Serbian Embassy ”that there would be significant consequences for Serbia if this matter was not resolved.”
An excerpt from the note reads:
“It is imperative that the [Serbian government] remedy these outrageous actions committed by its official representative, Igor Milosevic, and ensure the immediate return of Miladin Kovacevic to the United States for further legal proceedings and trial, not later than Aug. 1, 2008.”

The psycho Serbian seems to have found his way back onto the basketball court. According to a local Belgrade news source, Kovacevic will play for a basketball club in a regional Serbian league. Because his own country cannot extradite him, he seems to be living his life as if he wasn’t considered an international fugitive:
“To play basketball while Bryan Steinhauer is lying in a hospital bed is the height of callousness and shows that Mr. Kovacevic clearly doesn’t understand the severity of his actions,” Sen. Charles E. Schumer said in a statement. “He needs to be returned to the United States immediately to fully account for what he has done.”
